Safety Regulations at St. Andrew by the Sea Preschool
At St. Andrew by the Sea Preschool, your child's health, safety, and well-being are our
highest priority. Our dedicated staff follows strict safety protocols to create a safe and secure
environment for all children in our care. Please review the following guidelines and regulations
to understand the measures we take to protect every child.
1. Staff Training and Certification
All our caregivers are highly trained and certified in CPR, First Aid, and child safety procedures.
We ensure that our staff regularly participates in ongoing training to stay updated on the best
practices for childcare and emergency response.
2. Supervision and Child-to-Staff Ratio
We maintain a low child-to-staff ratio to ensure each child receives the attention and care
they deserve. Our staff members are always present to supervise play, meals, and transitions
throughout the day and are trained to respond to emergencies swiftly and appropriately.
3. Child Safety Policies
-
Secure Environment: All entrances and exits are locked at all times, and access
to the building is monitored. Visitors are required to sign in and out. -
Play Area Safety: All toys and play equipment are regularly inspected to ensure they are
safe and free from hazards. Outdoor play areas are fenced and monitored. -
Emergency Drills: Fire drills, lockdown drills, and other emergency procedures are
conducted regularly to ensure that both staff and children are prepared in the event of an
emergency.
4. Health and Hygiene Standards
We maintain strict health and hygiene standards to prevent the spread of illness:
-
Handwashing: Children and staff must wash their hands frequently throughout
the day, especially before meals, after using the restroom, and after outdoor play. -
Illness Policy: To protect the health of all children and staff, children who exhibit signs
of illness (fever, vomiting, etc.) must remain at home until they are symptom-free for at
least 24 hours without medication. -
Sanitation: All toys, play equipment, and surfaces are sanitized regularly to ensure a
clean environment.
5. Medication and Allergy Management
-
Medication Administration: If your child requires medication during the day, it must be
provided in the original container with detailed instructions. Our staff will administer
medication according to the guidelines, and parents must complete a medication
authorization form. -
Allergy Awareness: We maintain a strict policy for managing food allergies and other
sensitivities. Parents must inform us of any allergies, and we ensure that staff are trained
to manage allergy-related emergencies.
6. Emergency Contact Information
-
Parents must provide up-to-date emergency contact information, including phone
numbers, alternate contacts, and necessary medical information. This ensures that we can
quickly reach you in case of an emergency.
7. Background Checks
For the safety of all children, all staff members and volunteers undergo comprehensive background
checks, including criminal history checks, to ensure they meet our high standards for childcare.
8. Security Measures
Identification: Only authorized individuals are permitted to pick up children. Parents or
guardians will be asked to provide a government-issued ID when picking up their child.
We are committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment for every child. If you have any
questions about our safety regulations or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to
contact us.
